hovering mouse over an audio file !

Hi..

I have seen in many distros that hovering the mouse over an audio file like mp3 or ogg starts playing the audio file. But I cant find that in Ubuntu Gutsy? Is there any additional packages that I need to install?

Nautilus (File Browser) → Edit → Preference → Preview → Sound Files

The problem is "esound" is no longer installed by default in Gutsy, don't ask my why the change, but that is the program needed (assuming you installed mpg123.)
So to be safe I will list the mpg apps, you should only need one of the mpg's for it to work but having both installed wont hurt anything and I'd rather give you both instead of picking one and then saying try the other if therer is an issue etc....

sudo apt-get install mpg123
sudo apt-get install mpg321
sudo apt-get install esound

Hmm.. I tried both the suggestions above.. The Preview options under Edit -> Preferences were enabled previously. Then I installed mpg123 and mpg321 (this was something new to my knowledge) and also installed esound. Its still not working.. Anyway thanks to Vojtěch Trefný and catlett for trying to help me. I am open to suggestions from others also. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm..thought esound would work for you..it worked for me..instead of me assuming something will work for you, i will just link you the bug report and you can experiment with the different solutions posted https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mpg321/+bug/125739
