Restore desktop from 11.04 to 12.04 LTS. Can it be done?

I recently upgraded from 11.04 to 12.04 LTS. The desktop that came up is aweful. The old desktop from 11.04 was easy to use and I was very comfortable with it. Is there 'any' way I can get the older desktop back and still have it work with 12.04 LTS?

If you install the gnome-panel package and ligoff you can get the old style session.
