is there a media player that does everything?

Asked by Sbn

Is there a media player for gnome that features both ripping and burning in addition to the standard features? Something like the latest WMP? Would be nice to be able to do everything music in one place... I tried banshee but the library menu is way too simple (and it doesn't rip), so then I tried rythmbox but the burn option is gone, have no idea why.

To play .wmp or restricted files in ubuntu please refer:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats

and you can try VLC media player for ripping cds

To install vlc you require extra repositories to be enabled

To do the same refer:

http://www.arsgeek.com/?p=2794

Then to install vlc type the following command in a terminal

sudo apt-get install vlc

These article(s) gives you nice info about ripping in VLC
