bluetooth mouse is disconnected

Asked by ealthuis

On a Dell Vostro 3555 I have a Microsoft 8000 bluetooth mouse.
This worked flawlessly in 12.04LTS.

Now in 13.10 the connection is shut down if even the mouse is not used. When system is shut down, I have to restart the mouse as if it were new.

The GUI gives three items that should be on all the time, but one "connection" is always off when the mouse is not recognized.

How to make it stay one all the time?

How did you get to 13.10? Did you clean install or did you upgrade through to 13.10

You do realize that 13.10 is only supported 9 months so is EOL in July 2014, Wheras Precise is LTS and supported til April 2017.

Any particular requirement for the upgrade to Saucy?

Thanks

Upgraded from 12.04LTS through 12.10, 13.04 to 13.10
I was not aware of the short support period.
My upgrade requirement is primarily to prepare for 14.04LTS, as well as being able to show interested parties how Ubuntu Linux evolves. I do not plan on upgrading production machines to 13.10, but want to find out if an upgrade to 14.04LTS is worthwhile.

The laptop is NOT a production machine, I leave that to other computers I have..

The Bluetooth app needed to learn the code of the mouse, and once learned it seems to work as expected, that is right from the startup of thecomputer.

My previous post was not quite correct, the system does not find the mouse when booted. In 12.04LTS this was never a problem. Now I have to fuss with the "Bluetooth settings" to get it to work every time I start the system or it wakes from hibernation. Not very good when demonstrating how great Linux is!
