High Fan Speed After Wake - Compaq 615

Asked by Etienne

Hi there!

I have a Compaq 615 Laptop, running Ubuntu 13.10.

Since Ubuntu 13.04 whenever I suspend my laptop, or alternatively close the lid, and then wake it up again, the fan starts spinning at its highest (and unbearably loudest) speed, even if the laptop is rather cool. The only way to remedy this is to restart the laptop.

It seems to be related to the bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1094722

I assumed that, since the above bug report has similar hardware to mine, that the problem would be fixed in Saucy. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Is there anyone who has a few suggestions for me?

Thanks!

I suggest you keep an eye on the bugs for a fix. Be sure to post comment yourself to state it affects you too.

May also want to keep your BIOS up to date. May help.

Hi actionparsnip

Thanks for the reply. I keep a very keen eye on the bug reports, but the one with hardware closest to mine has already been fixed. Unfortunately my hardware still seems to be affected by whatever regression is causing the unbelievably high fan speed.

I looked at getting a BIOS update, but unfortunately HP only seems to support Windows-based updates.

This is impressive but you can check some detailed information about the https://yumpresso.com/best-nespresso-machine-for-latte/ where they guided about it in pretty much detailed version.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Etienne for more information if necessary.
