Do you use the onboard sound? If not, why have you not turned it off in BIOS?

Have you set the right device for output in the sound settings?

Your ALSA Terminal output shows this issue:

[ 8.057077] ca0132 DOWNLOAD FAILED!!! DSP IS NOT RUNNING.

I believe your sound card is experiencing these bugs:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1166529
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1176072
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1182741

I know it does not solve the issue. But I would personally remove and sell the Sound Blaster ZX and enable on-board sound, if you want to keep using Linux...

You could always try, but I don't think it will.

Virtualbox uses virtualized hardware that relies on the real hardware to work correctly on the host operating system.

The real hardware on the host OS (Ubuntu) is not working correctly. So it would seem logical that the soundcard will not work on the guest O.S. either...

If I were you, I would just sell the Sound blaster card....
