Have you tried removing the printer from Ubuntu's configuration, powering off the device and rebooting?

You can then re setup the printer.

You can also grab the latest hplip from hplip site. Mark the .run file executable then run it in a terminal as user (without sudo) which may help too

i suggest you find from synaptic the HPLIP-3.13.10 package and remove it. then update and upgrade.

Tried the suggestion #1

During the setup process it still requires the Driver Plugin.

Do you mean setup of the printer or setup of hplip?

Tried suggesstion # 2

The same probelm arises after installing HPLIP from synaptic.

The message syas that the HP Printer plug in is required. On step 2 of the printer plug in dialog the program freezes and does not respond any further. The computer has to be shut down to exit from the program.

Thank you. It is very comforting to have your assistance. It certainly feels great.

Pleased to inform you that the HPLIP plugin responded and the plugin was successfully installed. The printer is working normally again. I am not quite sure how it sorted itself out. Maybe it was some problem with the HPLIp plugin web site server.

Thank you
and
God Bless

Great,

Remember, installing using synaptic is no different to using software centre or apt-get

Thanks
