Install Ubuntu 12.4 Server on IBM X3300 M4 Server

Asked by Husen Daudi

I bought new IBM server X3300 M4 and Tried to install Ubuntu 12.4 Server 64bit.
Installation process go well and completed. After installation I removed bootable drive and my server keep restarting and says boot fail message.

I tried Desktop version and I get same issues of restarting server and boot fail.

I search a lot on google and found that there are specific ubuntu versions for IBM servers and in the list X3300 server is not there.
http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/server/make/IBM/

Is there any way to install ubuntu on IBM X3300 M4 server?

I am not the only one who face this issue.

You should check the BIOS if it has a kind of boot safety mechanism, like boot sector write protection.
