How do I add the Character Palette to panel in 12.04

Asked by dustbindiva

When I updated to version 12.04 in Ubuntu, my character palette that was on the top panel disappeared. The ability to move things around on the panel is not available either. If I right click on the panel I can find the character palettes but I dont know how to put them on the top panel.

Which version did you upgrade from?
How did you do it? Online or via clean install?
If you make a fresh Ubuntu user is it the same?
By 'character pallette' do you mean a keyboard language switcher?

Thanks

I installed the updates not realizing I was updating the version. I was using 10.04 and now have 12.04. The characters are foreign language letters with accents or other symbols with a drop down menu and it was always on the top panel. I dont remember how I got it there. I also discovered I cannot MOVE things on that panel. That function is not available.

What do you mean by "make a fresh Ubuntu user" ?

When you use any OS you are using a username to login and you set the first user up when you install.

If you have multiple people who use the same system it is intelligent to make each a username so they can have yhier own settings and privacy.

Are you not familiar with this notion?
