error in locking authority file /home/blah/.Xauthority

Asked by flomojo

I just upgraded Dapper to Edgy,
everything worked great until I was finished stetting up the system and rebooted
suddenly the x server gives me an error.

I figured out that the filesystem starts up as read-only
if I remount it it seems at least let me log in but once I restart again
same thing

I would really appreciate the help cause this drives me nuts

thanks

It's normal for the system to start read-only then get remounted read-write automatically. If the automatic remount isn't happening you can try editing the /etc/fstab file and changing "defaults,errors=remount-ro" to "defaults,rw,errors=remount-ro". Adding rw should mount it read-write at the start.

Can you help with this problem?
