WHERE IS THE icon RUBBISH BIN in Ubuntu 12.04

Asked by dustbindiva

Just updated from earlier version. Dont recall if there was a trash bin on the desktop but there certainly isnt one now. Is there supposed to be one?

I know I can get to it in the Home Folder but I want the desktop shortcut icon.

Thank you.

If you download "Advanced Settings" via the Ubuntu Software Center you can place it on your Desktop navigate to Applications -> System Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced Settings and then in Desktop, turn on "Trash icon visible on desktop".

By Jove ! I followed the path you laid out and voila there is a Trash bin on the desktop. Thanks so much. I had Applications already in my system. No need to download anything.

You can also manage trash with trash-cli in a terminal or over SSH :-)

Why would an OS not have a recyclebin feature?

Unity also has a recycle bin in the bottom left corner.
