i forgot my login password for Ubuntu and i want to know how i can reset it as i cannot make any changes on it.

i forgot my login password when login into Ubuntu, i cannot make any changes or authenticate anything as it keeps asking for the password. i want to reset my password and not sure how as it doesnt give me an option to retrieve forgotten passwords. could you please tell me how i can change my password?
