I tried to report bug against my network kernal, but got nowhere

Asked by Charles R Jr

I have critial bug that that attaches itstself to any cd image. It commands my network kernals to run its remote access.
I tried to report bug against my network kernal, but got nowhere. My network manager wont allow to use my real internet provider connection. Im currenty on the corrupt internet network. I tried to shred complete disk, but after every 8gb of shred proccess i got a root termianal outcome of :

udevd [1152]: 'mtp-probe /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb3/3-3 3 29' [1188] terminated by signal 11 (sementation fault)

udvd [1155]: '/bin/modprobe -bv input:b:0003v093ap2510-e0,1,2,4 k100.111,112 r0,18,am4 isfw' [1210] terminated by signal 11 (segmentation fault).

then shredding 1gb at a time, after 8gb of clean shred, above outcome re-appearsand the numbers in the brackets change in a consistant manner . How do i proceed. This not a small bug againt a certain package, its system wide at very root of my pc..

Thanks charles

The message "WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!" indicates that there is still something wrong in your system with the key storage, despite the actions already done in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/236429

Please repeat running
sudo apt-get update
and copy/paste all output.

By the way, it seems to me that the problems that you experience are not caused by the kernel, but by other packages.
Please do not try retyping error messages, but use copy/paste whenever possible.
The error messages you show (with segfault etc.) miss crucial information or seem mistyped in several parts.

And the numbers in brackets denote the process ID, and this will usually change whenever such process is started new.

I do not fully understand your problem with internet connection.

It is a requirement in any linux computer's network setup, to have "localhost" as an alias name for the computer, and to have 127.0.0.1 as an internet address that points back to the computer (via a so-called loopback device), see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Localhost . You have to expect problems if you remove the standard entries for localhost and/or 127.0.0.1 from your /etc/hosts file.

If you do have permanent problems with the partitions on your hard disk, and nothing works as it should, the best solution would be to perform a complete reinstallation of Ubuntu, repartitioning the hard disk. This should eliminate all strange remainders that might be left over from previous installations. For the sake of sipmlicity I would recommend _not_ to use any advanced options like LVM disk/partition management or encryption.

There is no 'network kernel' there is one kernel, the linux kernel. There is a network subsystem but it's not a kernel.

The apt-get text seems to imply you have web access as the sources are being hit

"Something wicked happening ubuntu kernal: [914.219607]r8169 0000:02:000etho: link up 082961e3-1eb9-49ab-bc38-47319467fc96-bc38-47319467fc96"

The BIOS bug has lock to boot the corrupt system and my internet connection to clear comm. And when it finishes installing and i check for software and updates, my settings were automatically set up to recieve updates from indendent third party providers and not Canonial trusted parters. I changed those settings .

I tried to file a bug ,with proper info but need help.

1. It might be possible to remedy the "ACPI BIOS Bug: Warning: Optional FADT field..." message by an upgrade of your computer's BIOS. What make and model is it, what BIOS version do you have?

2. You write about three hidden partitions. Depending on selections at installation time, Ubuntu usually uses two or three partitions, but none of them "hidden" - please provide the output of "sudo fdisk -l" that we can see the details of your partitioning scheme.

3. I do not see any relationship between your case and launchpad bug # 470035 That bug is about graphical glitches when playing the game nexuiz. Why should that be affecting you?

4. Please provide detailed information on how you connect to your internet provider - Maybe it is via a router that does address translation? The address 67.11.254.249 shown in "fiaif-getdev eth0" output is in Time Warner's address range. 192.168.*.* is an address range that is for local use, see http://whois.arin.net/rest/net/NET-192-168-0-0-1 and these addresses have to be translated to a publicy assigned number when entering the public internet. I guess some device in your internet connection setup does this for you. This is normal behaviour if you use e.g. a WLAN router connected to the web, and I do not see anything corrupt there.

Your hard disk:

Charles@charles-MS-7596:~$ sudo fdisk -l
[sudo] password for charles:
Disk /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders, total 1953525168 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0000b72f
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/sda5 1937274880 1953523711 8124416 82 Linux swap / Solaris
charles@charles-MS-7596:~$

Ubuntu Gparted info
/dev/sda (931.51 GIB) ****shouldn't this 1TB the toal size of my Hard disk?
/dev/sda1 size: 923.76 GIB Used: 18.21 GIB Unused: 905.56 GIB flags: Boot
/dev/sda2 size: 7.75 GIB Used: -- Unused: -- Flags; none
/dev/sda5 size: 7.75 GIB Used: -- unused: -- Flags : none

According to the fdisk output it is a 1.000.204.886.016 bytes hard disk.
Depending on using 1000 or 1024 as basis for the multiples, this is either 1000.2 GB (base 1000) or 931.51 GiB (base 1024) (as shown in gparted).
So this seems ok.

Apparently you have created a partition for the data (sda1, 923.GiB = 991.9 GB), and a swap file system with 7.75 GiB = 8.1 GB size.
You have to be aware that there can only be a maximum of four entries in a file system table. To enable more than that, there is the technique to create an extended partition as one of the four possible entries in the file system table, and such extended partition works like a separate hard disk and can have additional entries.
You have such extendend partition on your hard disk (sda2), whcih in turn contains your swap file system (sda5) as only contents.
It would have been possible to create the swap file system directly as primary entry in your file system table, but the setup that you see is completely standard, and I do not see anything strange or "hidden" with it.

The issue with "windows network" and "unable to open smb:///":
If you have a local network with different computers connected to it, and computers with Windows OS among them, there is the possibility to access the hard disks of the Windows computers by the Ubuntu computer with help of the samba packages.
If you do not have a windows computer in your local network, the message that the system cannot find anything is expected behaviour.

++++++

I have to repeat:
192.168.*.* IP addresses have nothing to do with clear wire. They are the private local address range that is not allocated to any company, and that usually are converted to public addresses (like 66.69.125.132 in your case) by the device that connects your system with the public internet.

Can some please help make my defualt etho

 ip adress: 67.11.254.249
broadcast: 67.255.255
defualt gateway: 67.11.224.1
primany dns: 209.18.47.61
domain : satx.rr.com

I don't need, want or have any networking computers. I have nothing to do with ip adress starting in 192.

I know you think im crazy, but pc has a network (internet connection) lock to use 192..168.1 as my intenet connection. I need to remove any interface with that address. I reinstalled Ubuntu over ten times with my ethernet cable plugged in to my time warner wired only modem. My defualt eth0 always comes up with that 192.168.1

I tried to change my eth0 with Ubuntu documention on "nework configuratiion" and "diable your networking" and i cant get to work.

I just want a wired only, with my local machine only, private internet connection with my correct ip address.

As far as my infected pc i will deal with that on my own.

Thats again for all your input and help.

Charles

I do not know the details about your internet service provider and the functionality of your modem device, but how your IP address is set up very much depends on that. Is there any configuration possibility with that device?
I assume that this device does work as DHCP server that instructs your computer to use the 192.* address and performs address translation that for the public internet it is 67.11...
Is there a problem with your computer having that 192.* address? Whenever I connect my computer to a WLAN network I receive an address similar to that, and that does not pose any problem, I do not even care what the detail address is.

Can some please help make my defualt etho, and only eth0 if possible.

Within an hour my default eth0 changes to old "CORRUPTED WIRELESS NETWORK" ip address 192.168.1.101 and disconnects me from the net. ****

I tried to change my eth0 with Ubuntu documentation on "network configuration" and "disable your networking" and i cant get to work.

Thats again for all your input and help. I can be contacted by phone anytime,(1-775-336-9867) i've been trying to get this fixed for 2 weeks now.

with respect to

I tried to use the "how to configure eth0 manually" but my /etc/network/interface is READ ONLY and i cant make any changes!

That file is a system configuration file that can be modified only with adminstative rights.
You have to use a command like

gksudo gksudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces

to modify its contents.
Before you try to do any change you have to be sure that the information that you enter is in line with the needs of your internet service provider and your connection device (modem, router etc., whatever the details of that device might be).

Have you already considered that there might be a problem with hardware or software or settings of your modem device?

By the way: even if most WLANs use IP addresses in the 192.168.*.* range, these ip addresses are also used in local wired networks. So these numbers are not a "CORRUPTED WIRELESS NETWORK", and there is no "infection" with such addresses.

This is what is in my /etc/network/interface file

# interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

______________________________________________________

Please understand i'm new to Ubuntu and i have a seriously infected computer working against me. As you can see i have (5) interface values.
I want to remove as many of these as pssible and just have the bare mininum required to access to the internet on a wired only, with local machine only, home private connection,
no networking, with eth0 values below. ( I never want to be on the public network )

When i opened a terminal and ran : gksudo gksudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces (It did open that file i made these changes and saved, then rebooted
my pc, and nothing changed). Can u please provide all the steps needed to accompish this. Ubuntu's manuals are confusing to me. It would be so much easier if i can call some in the United States
or contact me 1-775-336-9867 Thanks so much for tring to help me. I need to off public netework asap. Charles
