boot time error UDEVD about SYSFS{idVendor}

Asked by Wim

Every boot i shortly see a bunch of errors scrolling quickle over my screen; i can not stop scrolling at that moment.
These errors are like this:

udevd[346]: unknown key 'SYSFS{idVendor}=="056a" .....
udevd[348]: invalid rule '/etc/udev/rules.d/50-xserver-org-input-wacom.rules ...

Some more info:
on this machine i originally installed xUbuntu 08.04-LTS;
upgraded to 10.04.1-LTS; and now running xUbuntu 12.04-LTS
Since 12.04-LTS i see these errors every boot time.

The file /etc/udev/rules.d/50-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules contains the string " SYSFS{idVendor} " on most lines.
I assume that this file was changed during the years, but is kept the same on my machine (because it already existed).

I would like to receive some suggestions on how to change the file manually
so that everything still works and the errors are gone.

Many thanks in advance!

Are there any bugs reported?
Did you edit the file at some point?

The file is an artifact from the older Ubuntu versions. You can safely remove it, especially if you don't have a Wacom drawing tablet.

Andrew,

thanks for your hint:
* i did not find any bugs about this
* i never changed the file

Thomas,

probably you are right!
The file is dated: March30, 2008
so probably from the version 08.04-LTS

I will RENAME the file; work on for several weeks;
and if nothings goes wrong, delete it after a month or so.

Guys, thanks for your work for the linux-community!

(Problem probably solved)
