Bios on windows 8 not booting Ubuntu OS

Asked by Kali goddess

Ok, my problem is the following. I will try to explain as much as I can and know.
I bought ASUS X75A laptop with windows 8 preinstalled. There was no recovery cd/dvd. And also I cant figure out how to extract one from the data that is inside the laptop system.
I purchased a Ubuntu 12.10 installation dvd few months ago and I decided to use it with the new laptop. I did before on previous pc's, and I know how to re-install a new OS on the pc (at least win me, 2000, and xp). But I never installed the actual Ubuntu before, just the windows. With this win 8 is complete disaster. First I don't want to touch to much the bios settings because I don't have a recovery dvd, and second I might touch too much and completely ruin all the system of settings.
So what happened is I put the Ubuntu installation disk in, and restarted the laptop. I pressed the tab key (which is for asus booting system) and than it gave me two options: one to click the win8 (which will start the windows and bring me to the desktop); and the second is to chose Ubuntu. I chose second.
The booting window popped up and said this: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix this problem:
1. insert your windows installation disc and restart the computer
2. chose language, etc
3. click repair your computer
If you don't have the disc, contact your system admin (which is myself) or computer manufacturer for assistance.
file: \ubuntu\winboot\wubildr.mbr
status: 0x000007b
info: the application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains error

so ok, the Ubuntu cd is corrupted or what is wrong??

next... when I chose to press ESC=UEFI Firmware I go to Bios.
in the Bios I go to Boot and I only have one option of Windows Boot Manager
It actually looks different than what Im used to in other windows (xp, me, etc)
It doesn't even ask me how to divide partition etc. ESPECIALLY there is no "boot from cd room or dvd". I even tried copying all the files from Ubuntu installation disk to the USB and it shows the option of the USB but if I save it and exit and reboot and go in the Bios again, its like I never did anything, it doesn't save!!!
So the options in the Bios that Im given are:
Boot Configuration
Fast Boot (disabled)
Launch CSM (disabled

Driver option Priorities
Boot option priorities
Boot option 1# (Windows Boot Manager)
Boot option 2# (Either nothing or USB / UEFI: 8.07) - if my USB is inserted

Add a new boot option
Delete boot option

So this is it... I'm lost here and don't know what to do. I also do not want to touch and play around too much and completely mess up all my system. all I want is to be able to use Ubuntu. or to add double boot system, but I would prefer Ubuntu only.
also I read somewhere that you can add "Launch CSM - enable" and save and exit and it didn't work either! when I rebooted it was like I never did any changes!!!!

Please help I really don't want this Win 8 and I would like to know how to install Ubuntu step by step and why is giving me this problems.
sorry Im new to Ubuntu, but I have been using it before and I really like it.
Please if you need any more info let me know. This is the best I could really explain my problem.

Thank you very much for fast answers and help!!!!
Im waiting for your answers!

Try enter bios configuration.
Turn off "secure boot".
Turn on "legacy mode"

Hi Juliano! Ok I don't have none of those options... Only:
Fast boot
Launch CSM
And
Add new boot...

As I explained before in my text
And of course 2 boot methods (1 is already preset as windows and the other is empty or USB key if inserted.)

Ok everyone. After some braining and research on my own, I finally found the solution. I took me many days and hours, and at the same time I learned more about ubuntu. I fixed my problem. I was hoping that here in launch pad will get more support and help. Especially being a novice to all this and ubuntu OS. I'm a little bit disappointed in a little help I got. But I will still have hope in the future help offered here
