No drivers for Samsung ML-2165W

Using Ubuntu 12.04.02 - my new printer is a Samsung ML-2165W - This printer is not listed in the OS setup so where do I get the driver from and how do I set it up. I am not a computer boff so I need a idiots guide. Any help appreciated -Thanks.

You better try to install Samsung drivers using

sudo apt-get install printer-driver-splix

and if it is installed already, try reinstalling

apt-get install --reinstall printer-driver-splix

usually this all in one driver should work in this case.

Hi Thanks for the help but it did not work below are the replys

First command returned

[sudo] password for rollo:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package Samsung
E: Unable to locate package ML-2165w-splix

Second command returned

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

Any other suggestion?

I Googled "Samsung ML-2165W Linux drivers". There are many answers, some seem to work, others do not. There may be one of them that works for you. Good Luck.

If you go to the samsung web pages www.samsung.com - support - download drivers - search for your device ..., you should be able to download the linux driver, I guess in your case it will be ULD_Linux_V1.00.06.tar.gz
Extract that file to a suitable directory, switch to the uld subdirectory and execute "sudo install.sh"
