Smartcard SCR 333 under Ubuntu

Asked by Jaak

Hellow
I have a smartcard reader SCR 333 form Microsystem and computer running Ubuntu 6.06. Reader worked under Windows so it is correct. Microsystem declared, that this reader is compatible with linux and shares driver. I downloaded it and run install script. The script contain make command but Ubuntu don't recognize it. Errormessage was: command not found.
How can I set up the cardreader? How can I add programs that Ubuntu don't install by default (mc foewxample)?

You can install additional software using Synaptic package manager which you will find under the System --> Administration. make and mc should both be listed there.

The following page details how to use Synaptic.

Open Synaptic and search for "build-essential", which should allow you to compile your program cleanly.
