How to make Web-Cam operative for "Simple Security Camera"?
Sir,
There appeared a very nice article in the magazine “Full Circle” #76 page no. 29-30. The article is titled as “Simple Security Camera” Refer the link:
http://
For this, I tried. I am very technically very weak in linux.
First I tried to install Web Cam apps like : “Cheese Webcam Booth”, “Kamoso”, “Camorama Webcam Viewer “ etc. to operate my web cam which is of i-ball. But to my great surprise when ever I launch the applicatio after installation, it crashes and hangs the system. It happens in all the above three cases. So I am confused about what to installo so that my web-cam works?
Leaving this a side, firther I installed following TWO applications through Terminal:
(1)ZoneMinder - Linux video camera security and surveillance solution. It added zma, zmaudit.pl, zmc, zmcontrol.pl, zmdc.pl, zmf, zmfilter.pl, zmfix, zmpkg.pl, zmstreamer, zmtrack.pl, zmtrigger.pl, zmu, zmupdate.pl, zmvideo.pl, zmwatch.pl, zmx10.pl
(2)“Motion” - V4L capture program supporting motion detection.
These are already installed. They can be seen installed through USC also. But these can not be launched through “Search” icon (a circle with ubuntu logo at the top-left on the monitor screen).
As I wish to carry out this project please guide me what to do?
[A]Which application should I install to make my web-cam operative?
[B]How to launch above (1), and (2), application ?
[C]If these can be done through Terminal, please suggest me the command lines.
Thanks in anticipation.
