bluetooth crashes my system ubuntu 13.04

Asked by Princy

the default bluetooth manager in ubuntu 13.04 is crashing my system when ever i try to connect to my phone
so i tried to install blueman bluetooth manager through software center but it won't even open
and yea the system crashes with a black screen and weird lines of numbers
i have to hard reset my system everytime
and i think the problem is not with my hardware as i can use my bluetooth from windows (dual boot)

it seems that you bumped into a already reported bug - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-bluetooth/+bug/1148033

One of the suggested workarounds, and bare in mind that it's just a workaround, not a fix is to use the following command:

obexftp -b [address of the phone] -p file.ext

Notes : You need obexftp to be installed
: You need to know the address of your phone or bluetooth device by this command:
               hcitool scan
: The address should be in this format xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Yes I too have same problem; the weird black screen with white lines of some info scrolling up the screen. I'm connecting a bluetooth GPS device using rfcomm and the system crashes at some randomly while connecting. I desperate need the fix!
