No guarantees, but I would try this:

- open a terminal window
- run the command: sudo /etc/init.d/dbus start
- Try to enable the dbus service (System Communication Bus) in the Services menu again
- If you still cannot enable the dbus service, log out and log in again. Then try to enable dbus again.

If this does not work, please let us know which step failed and if you got any error messages.

Do
sudo /etc/init.d/dbus start
sudo apt-get install bum
you can also

sudo apt-get install sysv-rc-conf

then

run sudo bum

I did both to avert run level problems.

It works bum!!!!!!!!!!!!!
