How to make Installation DVD/CD from Large .iso file?

Asked by Navin Talati

Friends,
I need your detail guidance regarding captioned subject. While replying, please consider a fact that I am having very poor computer and its languages/programming knowledged. So you are requested to give fully detailed reply.

Background of the Question:

As for example, I have downloaded a bigger .iso file of "Fiat ePER v60" from the link as under:
http://www.fiat-bg.com/Downloads/Software/
It has .iso file of about 6.8 GB. Other small files like ReadMe.txt , epl.dll , and errors.js are also there giving some instruction (which I can not properly understand). This is for making Installable CD for Fiat Cars catalogue and spare-parts detail. This literature in from a Bulgerian Fiat Club website : http://www.fiat-bg.com
This .iso file is very large and could not be "BURN" on a single DVD as it can cover only maximum 4.2 GB size. So naturally this will require minimum 2 DVDs. As it is for an INSTALLATION purpose file, its continuity is essentially required to be maintain - This is what I understand.

My QUESTIONS are:
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
(1). How to BURN this .iso file to prepare MULTIPLE DVDs for cInstallation.
(2). Which software should I use for this and what should be the sequential steps? (Let they may be of WINDOWS or
       LINUX/UBUNTU).
(3). What other THREE files implies/says? (i.e. "ReadMe.txt", "epl.dll", and "errors.js")
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Please help me in this matter and oblige.
Thanking you all in anticipation.

you need a dual layer DVD, the software that you will need to use to burn the ISO is brasero. the readme is probably instructions to be read, and the others are Windows files

You can simply mount the ISO file. You don't necessarily need to burn it to access the data.

To.
Ref:#1----> I think, the dual layer dvd burning requires a different type of optical disc writer. It could not be done through a normal dvd writer. Secondly a special dvd is also required. My aim is to perform this job through the available hardware with me.

To.
Ref.#2----> Please describe the method in simple steps on how to MOUNT the .iso files. Which software should I use?

Thanks in anticipation.

The DVD image is obviously made for dual layer DVDs. You need a Dual layer writer and DVD. You can not split the image onto multiple DVDs. It's just not how it works.

To mount the DVD image, simply right click on it after download, then "open with…". This will list a number of programs. One to open the image like a compressed archive, one option will open the burning tool and there should also be one to mount the iso. The exact name differs by language, but it should have a light-purple icon. After you clicked that the DVD will be visible in the left column as a drive with a symbol to unmount it.

Sir,
I tried TWO ways for Installation.

(A) Using UBUNTU 13.04
Installing "Furius ISO Mount tool" through USC, I could install this large (6.8GB) .iso file on the hard disk. Then on clicking the shortcut icon, the following massage appeared on the browser:
In address bar it shows: "127.0.0.1:7080/navi?KEY+STARTUP"
Massage: " "No data received"
As I could not found the installed programme files (because I do not know where to find/search)in ubuntu, as per the "ReadMe" file, I could not be able to replaced the "epl.dll" and "errors.js" files.

(B) Using WINDOWS-7
Installing "Demon Tools Lite" in this OS, I could install this large (6.8GB) .iso file on the hard disk. Then in its programes files, the main folder of the whole programe was found and as per the "ReadMe" file, I could be able to replaced the "epl.dll" and "errors.js" files. Then clicking the shortcut icon following massage appeared on the browser:
In address bar it shows: "127.0.0.1:7080/errors/o/discexpired.html"
Massage: "ERROR "
This installed version of ePER has expired.
To view the PDF files you need to install
updated version of the ePER DVD
                   "CLOSE"
Here in "epl.dll" file it shows something like instruction for Windows OS. How it could be done that I don't know.

GUIDANCE REQUESTED:
[1]. How can I find the files in Linux/Ubuntu as mentioned in (A) ?
[2]. How Server Error in '/' Application be resolved as per "epl.dll" file inj (B) ?
[3]. What are the commands/stuffs are required for this to do?
[4]. In which STEPS should I proceed ro resolve thye problem.

Thanking you all in anticipation.

NOTE:
I am giving you the files detail for the ready reference. However, you may check the last THREE file which are very small ( ePER v60.iso file is very large i.e. it is of 6.8 GB and also not required to download to reply). Pleasec refer
them. Detail is as under:

or:

sudo mkdir /media/iso

sudo mount -o loop ~/Download/filename.iso /media/iso

Obviously change the filename in the command to your actual filename as necessary

Sir,
The "/media/iso" directory was created earlier. From the link [ http://www.fiat-bg.com/Downloads/Software/ ] the .iso file [6.8GB] was downloaded in some partition. It was placed in the directory /Download. The .iso files name is "Fiat Group e-Per Version 60.iso " .
As per your instruction, I applied the above mentioned TWO stuffs in the TERMINAL. Resultant OUT-PUT is as under:

============================== O U T P U T ===============================================
navin@navin:~$ sudo mkdir /media/iso
[sudo] password for navin:
mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/media/iso’: File exists
navin@navin:~$ sudo mount -o loop ~/Download/Fiat-Group-e-Per-Version-60.iso /media/iso
/home/navin/Download/Fiat-Group-e-Per-Version-60.iso: No such file or directory
navin@navin:~$ sudo mount -o loop ~/Download/Fiat Group e-Per Version 60.iso /media/iso
Usage: mount -V : print version
mount -h : print this help
       mount : list mounted filesystems
mount -l : idem, including volume labels
So far the informational part. Next the mounting.
The command is `mount [-t fstype] something somewhere'.
Details found in /etc/fstab may be omitted.
       mount -a [-t|-O] ... : mount all stuff from /etc/fstab
mount device : mount device at the known place
mount directory : mount known device here
mount -t type dev dir : ordinary mount command
Note that one does not really mount a device, one mounts
a filesystem (of the given type) found on the device.
One can also mount an already visible directory tree elsewhere:
       mount --bind olddir newdir
or move a subtree:
       mount --move olddir newdir
One can change the type of mount containing the directory dir:
       mount --make-shared dir
       mount --make-slave dir
       mount --make-private dir
       mount --make-unbindable dir
One can change the type of all the mounts in a mount subtree
containing the directory dir:
       mount --make-rshared dir
       mount --make-rslave dir
       mount --make-rprivate dir
       mount --make-runbindable dir
A device can be given by name, say /dev/hda1 or /dev/cdrom,
or by label, using -L label or by uuid, using -U uuid .
Other options: [-nfFrsvw] [-o options] [-p passwdfd].
For many more details, say man 8 mount .
navin@navin:~$
===========================================================================================

From above it seems that some mistakes I have committed in the syntex of the command lines. I am unable to understand what this OUTPUT implies. Please guide further.
Thanks

If you actually read the output you will see the file you specified is not present. Use TAB to autocomplete the filename.

The filename of your .iso file has embedded space characters.
You have to mask the space characters with a backslash, something like
sudo mount -o loop ~/Download/Fiat\ Group\ e-Per\ Version\ 60.iso /media/iso

As actionparsnip already wrote, you can use file name expansion by entering the first part of the file name and then press the "Tab" key.

Can you help with this problem?
