Ubuntu 12.04.3 Image has precise-backports disabled

Asked by marco dahms

Today I was comparing images for 12.04.2 and 12.04.3.

I found out that although backport source is enabled since Oneiric the precise-backports aren’t enabled on the 12.04.3 i368 iso.

Is this a wanted behaviour or is this a bug in the release? (Did i do something wrong?)

On 12.04.2 everything is enabled like described in the release notes.

Thanks

Backports are not enabled by default. I suggest you read the notes in /etc/apt/sources.list

Hello,

as you well said , ubuntu-backports are enabled by default. I downloaded and installed 12.04.3 64bit (from day one), and had the backports enabled by default.

If you are very sure about this, I would suggest to report a bug. Better would be to double check and download and install again (even in a Virtual Box) the current version from following Official link
http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/

Even if they are, I'd say it might be better to disable them by default, as it can compromise the stability of the system, which does not encourage new users.
