Can I delete /var/backups/aptitude.pkgstates files without causing issues on my server?

/var/backups is taking up quite a bit of space on one of my servers. Can I delete any of the aptitude.pkgdtates and dpkg.status files without causing any issues on my server?

Try:

wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8850924/fixpackage
chmod +x ./fixpackage
sudo ./fixpackage
