Remote Access from Login Screen fails to authenticate

Asked by Ryan William Snead

Summary: I am trying to use the RDP client integrated into the Ubuntu 13.04 login screen. After entering my email address and Ubuntu One password, the system fails to authenticate my credentials. I believe that instead of getting a credentials error that I should see a selection of Remote Login options.

I do not think this is solved.. I am havin ghte same problem. Tripplechecked by credentials.. they do not work on my 13.10 login

What are you intending to do once you connect via RDP? What is the reason for the connection?

Thanks

I am attempting to connect to another Ubuntu 13.04 computer that is connected on the same local LAN.

The remote computer's IP 192.168.100.7, and the client is on the same LAN segment.

I am able to make remote file system connection from the client to the remote computer using Samba.

Why do you want to connect to the desktop? What do you intend to do on the remote PC? You simply restated the question. You didn't state why you are connecting

Pardon my ignorance as to the nature of your question. I am intending to run applications on the remote PC when my daughters are at the console in the event that they are not configured or installed on the client PC.

Then you can use VNC easily. Why use RDP?

Why indeed? Ubuntu SSO does not provide VNC connection (RFB protocol) as a protocol option. RDP is the only available protocol when I try to configure the connection.

I appreciate the utility of the solution provided for the statued purpose. However, it is only a partial solution. I am looking for a solution that integrates into the login screen as well.

I do not see how this video solves my problem. However, since it is a valid remote desktop solution, I will let it stand.
