Wireless Issue with Ubuntu 13.04 on Macbook Air 6,1

Asked by Adam Updegrove

Hi, I just recently installed Ubuntu 13.04 on my new macbook air 6,1 (the mid 2013 release) to run parallel to my mac os.
For some reason, the wireless doesn't work. I have tried installing mutliple drivers using bcmwl-kernel-source, ndiswrapper, etc.
I'm fairly new to this stuff, and I can't seem to get the wireless to work no matter what I do. The Broadcom chip for the wireless is:
802.11ac BCM4360

Oh, and I can't use a wired connection because the new mba doesn't have an ethernet port.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Unfortunately, I tried using this webpage already. It doesn't have a driver for the BCM4360 listed anywhere. Does this mean that it is to new for a downloadable driver?

never understood running anything but MacOS on a Mac. You paid through the nose for your system because the OS you already had/have is tweaked to work with exactly the piece of hardware in your hand to give maximum performance and battery.

Yea, i saw this webpage too, and I wanted to try to get it to work without buying 802.11g wireless adapter, but that looks like what I will have to do.

And I didn't think I would be running another os on this when I bought it. Turns out a program that i have to use from my graduate studies only runs on ubuntu, so I kinda have to get it working as the program connects to the internet per part of the installation.

For anyone with a similar problem, just install the bcmwl-kernel-source for ubuntu 13.10 (saucy). Here is a link to the launchpad download:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/amd64/bcmwl-kernel-source/6.30.223.30+bdcom-0ubuntu3

I downloaded this, installed the package with "sudo dpkg -i bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.30+bdcom-0ubuntu3_amd64.deb in the correct directoy. After restarting, my wifi connected to a wireless network immediately.

The Same chip is mounted on my asus pce68 PCI wifi card.
I am working with bcmwl-kernel-source too but I guess it wokrs only with the bgn specification and the ac pecification ( which makes this chip intressting) does not work because I get only 240Mbps out of the Card :( is there any known way to enable ac yet?
