My machine does not see an 8gig micro sd card.

Asked by Ken

My Acer Aspire V3-571G running Xubuntu 13.04 reads a 2gig micro sd card without any problem but it does not see an 8gig card at all. The 8gig card works perfectly well when inserted into my blackberry device.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Ken.

When you last unplugged the 8Gb from the device did you safely remove it?
Have you checked the storage for errors using a Windows system?
Does it detect OK in Windows (If you have a Windows OS available)?

Thanks

The card has never been successful as it has never been detected by my machine. Tested in Windoze (borrowed machine) and it worked correctly.

"This might be bug #1101883"

This fits my problem exactly but I see that the bug report has expired. Does one just have to wait for a result?

Thanks for your responses - appreciated!

As a matter of interest, when the card is inserted, the HDD activity light flashes continuously. When removed, the flashing stops immediately.
