Nvidia Drivers

Asked by davidzaq1

Hello,

Just received an email from Nvidia. Says Nvidia v325 is now available for Linux.
Can we use this driver for Ubuntu? If so, what versions will it work for and how do we install it?

Thank you,
David

Sure, you can use it, but I wouldn't recommend using it unless you're the experimental type or it contains a fix that affects you: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-325.08-driver.html
In other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
xorg-edgers has it packaged if you want it: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa

The edgers PPA is notoriously unstable the edgers update PPA (less fresh more syable) is probably a smarter move.

What is in the newer version which you need exactly?

I am going to leave this alone at this time. Like you said, if it is not broke don't fix it.
I did this too many times which resulted in issues and had to reinstall Ubuntu several times over again.
I upgraded to 13.04 which I hate and was going to get a newer video driver because this version is running slower than 12.04. But I have changed my mind and I am dumping 13.04 and going back to 12.04.

Thanks for the advice
