(Xfce4) Date and time on a panel - bad layout.

Asked by daniel CURTIS

Hi. I have a problem with a date and time layout on a panel in Xfce4 DE (Xubuntu 12.04.2 LTS). Earlier, mentioned format was simple: 'time, date' (e.g. 20:00, sat 10 jun). Now it is different: date is above time and looks something like this:

,-----[ Xfce4 panel ]
| sat 10 jun
| 20:00
| ### or second layout:
| 20:00
| sat 10 jun
`-----

Unfortunately I don't remember what I was doing, that this layout was changed. Of course, I've tried settings in the 'datetime' properties. But the only one results, which I can reach is: change icons format/style or size and change date above or below time and vice versa. How can I return to a normal setting? Maybe I should remove some hidden file in a user directory? Removing and adding 'datetime' applet doesn't work. I hope I described it in an understandable way.

I see only one way to "solve" this issue. Adding two 'datetime' applets one by one. Let say first, only for time e.g. 20:00 and second for date e.g. sat 10 jun. But for me, it is not a solution.

Best regards.

The solution was very simple. I don't know why, I didn't thought about it before. So everything to do, was to choose 'Custom' option in the 'Date' format and use this format:

,-----[ date, time layout ]
| %a, %d %b %H:%M
`-----

Next, choose Close button and that's all. Everything is normal: 'time, date' (e.g. 20:00, sat 10 jun) instead of what I mentioned above.

Best regards.
