huawei vodafone mobile internet connection setup

Hello can anybody please help, I have installed ubuntu 7.10 on my hp laptop and need to connect to the net using a huawei vodafone (vodacom) mobile connect modem. I managed to install the vodafone drivers but everytime run it, I get an error. Apparently the driver settings are those of Spain or something and being a linux newbie I have no clue what step to take next. Please help
