Will compiz be usable in Ubuntu 14.04+

In 14.04 (convergence) there will supposedly be unity 8(next), mir/xmir & unity-system-compositor
So the question is will compiz be usable in that env. (obviously without the unityshell plugin enabled/installed

Or is compiz dead & almost buried in Ubuntu

I'd imagine it will be the default. Saucy isn't out yet. Once ww get closer to the time there will be a better idea
