How do the Unbuntu code names correlate to release version numbers?

Asked by cappy2112

I need to get Ubuntu 7.04, so I can install it in VMWare workstation 6 (it is not compatible with Ubuntu 7.10 yet).

Unfortunately, 7.04 does not appear to be available on the Unbuntu download site, but may be available on other sites.

Some sites refer to the Ubuntu releases by their version number, others by the code name.

I'm trying to find a listing that shows the release version which coincides with the code name.

What is the code name for 7.04?

thanks

Hello

Here you can find ubuntu 7.04 for donwload, http://releases.ubuntu.com/7.04/ . However, I don't think you need to use the old version, even if vmware doesn't list ubuntu 7.10 in its guest OS list when you create the virtual machine it should still work, I have already tried 7.10 on vmware server and it is working perfectly fine(but no effects due to the lack of 3D acceleration). Both vmware workstation and server should be using the same engine so I don't think it won't work.

7.10 is Gutsy Gibbon, while 7.04 is Feisty Fawn. You can find the rest on the list Bhavani Shankar provided.
