I have an amd64 bit comp. and I see many files i386. how do I remove unneeded i386 files?

I have over 55k of downloaded files when I view via synaptic. There are many i386 files. would like to know how to remove unneeded i386 files. Thank you

Then that's why. The Skype client is 32bit only but your OS is multiarch so you hauled in all the 32bit deps to your OS. This is due to lazy or dumb development of Skype. Great system huh...

ok, I removed skype and still have over 64k in packages. Are there any other programs that may be adding these files. Thank you again.

64kb....that's nothing at all.

Try:

sudo apt-get --purge autoremove

You can also install deborphan and run:

sudo apt-get --purge remove `deborphan`
