make .img file to bootable

Hai

 I have a system which had operating system installed in CF (compact flash ) and the OS is red hat linux . To backing up the OS, I had make an image of this OS using a windows application awrite.exe . And the extension of the got image is ".img " . Now I want to write this ".img" file to a bootable cd . My doubt is that, image is taken from CF card and using this image shall I make a bootable cd ?

Grub2 can boot images. I suggest you recreate it in Lunyx and use The dd command, it will then be no different to a CD ISO which Grub2 can boot. If it can boot .img files then you can skip the recreate.

You can use the dd command , little dangerous for novice users.
OR
You can use a GUI tool (usb-imagewriter) and create a bootable USB-STICK.
