Samsung Serie 9 live vs installed system differences

I recently bought a Samsung Serie 9 900x4d which I tested with a Kubuntu live system and I was really exited, since everything worked!
Including:
- Ambient light sensor for the keyboard
- touchad with gestures up to five fingers
- Suspend on lid close

After confirming everything is fully functional I started the Kubuntu installation - after it finished i noticed that the light sensor and suspend do not work anymore and the touchpad is not able to recognize two finger tap.

My questions are: What causes this behaviour and how can I get back the live system behaviour?

Did an - update && dist-upgrade - I'm now on kernel 3.8.
Unfortunately that did not help, but thanks for the answer!

There are several reports that describe parts of the problem:

But I think this is not a Linux bug per se. I tested the live USB again and it happens to have the same bugs I'm experiencing in the installation now.
That leads me to the conclusion that there happens some hardware initialisation in the Windows UEFI partition that is deleted while installing linux.

Would this be considered a bug too?

Never mind - I reinstalled Windows 8 and tried again to use the live system: doesn't work...
I think it was really a coincident that everything worked out of the box - although this is a shame since when everything is working this is the perfect linux machine.
