Then you are using a PPA and not the packages from the official repo which are known to work. If you start adding third party package sources don't be surprised if you get issues. The default Gnome version has the right click menu as you expect.

I suggest you contact the PPA maintainer to report the problem.

Hello actionparsnip
thanks for your help.

yesterday I was presented with a partial upgrade which appeared from nowhere and I duly selected it and did it no problem.

At login I see u buntu default which is unity Gnome fallback and gnome fallback with no effects but no gnome default

Where do I go from here to get Gnome defaul?

If you use ppa-purge with the PPA address you can remove the PPA and it will also reinstall the Gnome version from the official Ubuntu repo. Why would you add a third party source for something as crucial as the desktop environment especially when you are clearly not technically inclined enough to fix issues as and if they crop up?

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask John Kelly for more information if necessary.
