Choice of Operating systems at log-in

Asked by William Gamache

Ubuntu 12.04 lts ... At the log-in screen I seem to have inadvertently installed the choice of gnome, gnome classic, gnome classic (no add-ons) with my ubuntu, ubuntu 2d, system choices ... It seems to have slowed down my boot-up tremendously... Can I uninstall the gnome systems without hurting my normal ubuntu , ubuntu 2d ? And how do I do it?

Having multiple sessions doesnt slow down boot time. The desktop session you select is loaded to RAM at login.

You have basically installed gnome-panel to get the old style session, if you remove this it should remove the option from lightdm. Wont speed up boot in any way.

@actionparsnip has righ here. The multiple graphical environments have nothing to do with boot speed.

But, if you want to delete them, yes you can do it. See here how
