linksys wusb11 wireless adapter not working

Asked by richard perez

I am trying out linux OS (latest ubuntu ver) on garage computer which has 3 hard drives Main drive has windows Vista RC1 & the 2nd has ubuntu linux. I am very new to linux OS. My 2 problems are 1: I have a Linksys WUSB11 Wireless usb adapter which I cannot get to work need guideance (does anyone have a driver or can give me instruction on how to set it up?) & 2: I have brother MultiFunctionCenter Printer 4420 USB connected but not working also need help there too (nned a driver). So far just by playing around with ubuntu it is woring fine. This OS looks a little bit like MAC OS. The bootloader works fine, there is no conflict with windows vista. I do need someone's help. Thanks. (My rig is a AMD 3200 XP single core Athlon w/2 gigs of memory, 3 HD'S, MSI K8N4, SB Audoligy sound card (working fine os recoginized automatically, Nvidia geforce 6600 256.) I have downloaded & printed at work the networking instruction but no luck.

Hello Richard, first of all , welcome to Linux and Ubuntu.

About your problems:

1. - This must help you get through it:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/prism2_usb

Also there are some discussions at the forums:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=14030&highlight=wusb11
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=10678

But at a first glance the first link should work.

2.- I think you're talking about Brother MFC 420.

Seems that Brother offers a good level of support to Linux, so you can check:

http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/

http://solutions.brother.com/linux/sol/printer/linux/cups_drivers.html

http://solutions.brother.com/linux/sol/printer/linux/cups_wrapper_install.html

Hope this helps you with your linux setup.

I still cannot get it to work. I also have tried to add an additional hard drive but the loader gives you and error of 417.

Can you help with this problem?
