coping CDs

Asked by David Mandelberg

How can I make an exact copy of a cd (specifically an audio cd) from a gui?

I'm using breezy and will upgrade to drapper when the repositories open. I have one CD-RW drive and at least 800M free on /tmp.

Install GnomeBaker from the Synanptic Package Manager or from the command line:
  sudo apt-get install gnomebaker
Launch Gnome Baker from the "Sound & Video" menu and use the Copy Audio button.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to install extra software, place the CD into your machine and right-click the CD icon on the Desktop; there should be an option 'copy disc'. The same can be done by right-clicking the icon in the 'Computer' area which is accessed through the places menu.

Hmmm. My gnomebaker will simply read the audio CD, eject it and pull it right back in, giving me no chance to insert a blank CD... no chance to do an on-the-fly copy with only one drive?!

Serpentine, on the other hand, keeps complaining my system to be too slow upon burning but the CD comes out fine nevertheless... OK, maybe the finalization is not done but my standard old CD player does not complain...
