v3.8 Linux kernel: end-of-life and last release.

Asked by daniel CURTIS

Hi. On Sat, 11 May 2013[1], Mr Greg KH has announced that 3.8.y (3.8.13 in this case) is the last update and there will be no updates or fixes. As we know Ubuntu 13.04 "RaringRingtail" includes the 3.8.0-19.29 kernel which was based on the v3.8.8 upstream Linux kernel. So, what will happen with this kernel? It will be still maintained by the Ubuntu kernel team or there is some plans to move e.g. to the 3.9.y kernel series?

Best regards.

Hi. The Ubuntu kernel team will be providing extended stable support for the Linux 3.8 kernel until August 2014. It's good. So no bug report is needed.

Best regards.
