Mountig .iso files into Hard Disk

Asked by Ricardo Benito

Hello

I need to have an .iso image into the hard disk in order to inicialize a VirtualBox. I have tried Gmount-iso to do so, but I am not sure on the mountig point to be used..

Where can I learn or have advice about this issue?

Regards,
R.Benito

Hi Ricardo!

In order to use a .iso image to install an O.S. in VirtualBox you don't need to mount it. All you need to do is to select the .iso file to boot in your VM on VirtualBox. Then you can proceed with the installation steps of the O.S. you are about to install.

Yes, as @Fabrico said, you don't need to mount anything. Except if this iso image is on another HDD partition that is not mounted in Ubuntu.
If the .iso image is in your Ubuntu O.S , then you have to select it in VB and start VB with iso selected.

Thank you Fabricio and NikTh, It worked but it stopped booting VirtualBox with this error message:

""This kernel requieres an x86_64 CPU, but only deteted an i686CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel apropriate for your CPU""

I don't know if I must open a new tiquet.

I have ubuntu 12.04 64bits, and the software to run in VB is caelinux2011, that I have had intalled previously and worked right.

How can I get x86_64 kernel?

Best regards,
R. Benito

Your ubuntu will be using a 64-bit kernel. You might need to go into the VM settings and make sure that the 64-bit feature is availible to your VM.

Hope this helps.
