If you rename the thunderbird folder in ~/.mozilla then run the app, you will get a vanilla profile with zero configuration.

I couldn't locate the folder ( .mozilla ). I could see mozilla in /usr/share There is only 'extensions' in it.

App having the new name? or Thunderbird?

It's a hidden folder, so it won't jump out and bite you. If you show hidden folders in nautilus, you WILL see it. None of your user config is outside of your $HOME folder. Do NOT rename the folder in /usr/share or the application will simply not load.

In my case, what you said is right :)

Using Synaptic Package Manager I could find nautilus and its other folders. Used search option also. Saw a gnome in /etc I Tried a lot. Yet I couldn't find nautilus's location.

Try:

nautilus ~/.mozilla

I got 2 folders -- extensions & firefox . Extensions is blank. A .default folder with some numbers, Crash Reports & profiles folder --- only these 3 folders in firefox. No thunderbird folder in it. So, no thunderbird in .mozilla.

did you try looking in those folders by one level each?

Yes. I tried almost all. Used double-click only. Never tried to use open with. Any problem? .... One Google account is still working without any problem.
