CD needs to be inserted?

Asked by David Wallin

I got a copy of 7.10 with Linux magazine this month. I've installed it fine.

The problem is that when I asked it to 'add' the Samba program/facilities, it asked me to re-insert the DVD so that it could access the files it needed. I did this (no problem), but is there any way of copying the entire DVD to the HDD and therefore not having to insert it every-tine to make additions/alterations?

Thanks

David

You could do that, but it's probably easier (if you have internet access) to just disable the CD repository, so all software is installed from online repos.

System --> Administration --> Software Sources --> Disable the CDROM down the bottom of the first tab.
