Newbie needs to share "My Documents" with Windows

Asked by josephbus1

My PC:
HDD1 ntfs, XP Pro, data to be shared in C:\My Documents...
HDD0 ext3, Kubuntu 7.10, data to be shared in path /media/sda1/...My Documents...

Problem: \media folder has root permission only...

When I try :
sudo chown -R user \media

1)terminal responds my pwd input with "unknown pwd"...?!
2)Is there an easier method to get access to shared memory?
Thanks for your advice, Joseph

Alan:

Thank You sir, 4th (using pysdm pkg) suggestion worked great

P.S. Side question: Man Mount says the ntfs partion will be read only,
yet I am able to write from Gutsy....

Is ntfs writeable from Gutsy ?

Thanks for your answer.
