Emacs fails to open window on Kubuntu 13.04

Asked by GeorgeBeshers

Hi,

I upgraded to kubuntu 13.04 and discovered that emacs won't open a window.
I installed gnome and it works fine there. Rebuilt emacs from gnu source and
it has the same problem.

Is this a known problem?
Any possible setting issue

Other tools seem to work OK (only tried a handful like xterm, xxdiff, 'make gconfig')

Are there any bugs reported?

Hi Andrew,

I created the bug after spending some more time, e.g., poking around with gdb and
rebuilding emacs from source from the gnu website.

I did not see any related bugs, although a google search did turn up a couple of other people
who appear to be seeing the same thing.

I ended up having to re-install 12.10 because I'm working on patches for the 3.10 kernel.
