Window button problem + compiz after 13.04 upgrade

Two upgrades to 13.04 today, one desktop, one notebook, both with compiz. Window buttons (minimize, maximize, close) do not work on many programs, ironically compiz settings manager isn't one of them. When clicked, the whole title bar and Window are greyed out, then to bring the window back one must click on the center of it or on the window list button. I found a bug report that was reminiscent of what I'm experiencing, but I'm just wondering if anyone has a work-around for this, or knows if it is indeed a bug, or caused by compiz, or any other input.

Try pressing ALT+F2 and run:

unity --replace

or:

compiz --replace

If neither help, please report a bug
