Unknown storage engine 'InnoDB'

Asked by Janine

After a regular batch of updates I found I can't get onto some web sites. A blank white screen with just this message shows:
"Unknown storage engine 'InnoDB'"

What happened? how do I fix this?

If you make a fresh Ubuntu user, is it the same there?
Do other browsers work ok?
What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a

Thanks

The message is an error from an MySQL database server which is used by some websites to store data. Most likely there is aa severe problem with the website and not with your computer.
