switching between virtual consoles not working

Asked by bhaskar

When switching from GUI(virtual Console-7) to virtual Console-1 by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1 it's working.
When i try to comeback from Virtual console-1 to GUI(Virtual Console-7) by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F7 it is stopping in the middle of the process but in text mode only. And after that screen is freezing and i need to reboot the system to login. It says Some Alsa Timidity error. Please give me solution to work this perfectly otherwise i am getting problem everytime.

Yes sorry , the correct command is

    lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 vga (I forgot the number)

I cannot see any particular problem in the results. Your graphics card is Intel with i915 driver (same is in my Laptop).

How about PPAs ?

    find /etc/apt -name '*.list' -exec bash -c 'echo -e "\n$1\n"; cat -n "$1"' _ '{}' \;

and Xorg , any error there ?

    cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -e EE -e WW

After restarting light display manager(lightdm) it is working properly. If the smell is because of lightdm then i will try with gdm and kdm those already sleeping in my laptop without doing any work. Anyway thanks for your prompt reply.
