K3B really burning slowly since upgrade to Gutsy

Asked by Legomanfred on 2008-01-20

Recently having upgraded to Gutsy I find that K3B burns DVD's very slowly. I can set them to burn at 16x and both my burner and the discs I'm using support this. I never had this problem in Feisty. Someone suggested I try Gnome-Baker instead of K3B and it was equally as slow. What can I do to improve the overall burning speed? As I mentioned, this wasn't an issue in Feisty, and my hardware is still the same since I was using Feisty. Any suggestions or thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Legomanfred

First, do:
$ dmesg |grep hdd

After, do:
$ hdparm /dev/hdd

Both at your terminal (console) and post here the output of both commands.

legomanfred@legomanfred-desktop:~$ dmesg |grep hdd
legomanfred@legomanfred-desktop:~$ hdparm /dev/hdd
/dev/hdd: No such file or directory
legomanfred@legomanfred-desktop:~$

That is the output that I received after doing the preceding commands from the terminal.

I have downgraded to version 1.0.3 and this works now.
