Ubuntu 13.04 Studio Beta 2 Install Fails (Ubi-partman, Time Zone, Nouveau)

Asked by Noah Vesely

System: Timeline Ultra M5-481TG, recently updated BIOS.

Install Options: Clean install onto completely unallocated HDD, using Logical Volume Management, download updates, and install proprietary software. Partitions: sda1--491.5GB, primary, ext4, /; sda2--GB, primary, swap area.

Notes: Previously had 12.10 Ubuntu Studio Running, tried daily build of Ubuntu 13.04 Studio with a similar error, tried using Startup Disk Creator and UNetbootin.

Errors: If installing directly from menu install will go fine until it crashes at "time zone configuration," (not when you first select your time zone yourself, but during the actual installation process), bug report fails. If installing from within "Try Ubuntu" crashes at point you select your time zone yourself with "ubi-partman error code 10."

The nouveau error will repeat indefinitely.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

No. I ended up installing Xubuntu 12.10 and then just upgrading to the 3.8.6-030806-generic kernel, so I'm getting close to the same thing. I don't do live recording so I didn't need the lowlatency kernel. Still willing to answer any questions if it can help development.
