Ubuntu 12.10 Live Install Crash

Asked by Gene Bray

Live install crashes-hard during install. After desktop background appears the system locks up. Only thing that works in reset or power off and reboot. ISO md5 is good. Cannot get to a point to where I can get to log files.

Side item (I will open separate ticket bug on this). If I go directly to install 12.10 vice Live boot, the install crashes.

Have you tried via USB-stick ?

See intructions on how you can create a USB-stick from within Windows here
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

Or from within Linux with Unetbootin
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

I suggest to test the 12.04.2 LTS version (same kernel and Xorg and graphics stuff as 12.10).

You can found it here
http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/
